Songs are extremely personal to any artist and are a reflection of very intimate and personal places within that individual. The more that I began to engage in this vibrant, spiritual journey that God called me into, the more the Trinitarian-God began to redefine and regenerate my heart from the inside out. To me, these tracks are more than songs, but anthems that fuel my soul to chase after the One true God who is set apart from any other.
As I've been exploring, discovering, and redefining who I am through His eyes, it's changed what I value, what I love, and how I see and serve people.
This worship record is a miracle project, and it certainly couldn't have been done without the love and support of my amazing wife, our support team, and our great friends Jamie and Martha Madigan. We only had $900, to record 8 tracks, in 3 days, for 8 hour sessions. Yes, I know that's insane. As exhausted as we were, we only had about 6 hours left to record our vocals after we recorded all the instruments. Again, most vocals take anywhere between 2 weeks to a month minimum to get it just right. We had 6 hours. I feel obligated to tell you that these mp3's are not even mastered yet. So these songs will sound much more full and clear when you download them and listen to them on a quality sound system. We dropped every penny we had in pouring our hearts into what you will hear. Brian Houston, lead pastor of Hillsong Church, said, "You have to use what's in your hands to fulfill what's in your heart." You can't compare a $900 project to a $30,000 project. These songs declare and define what we stand for. And to be honest, these tunes sound great. Just imagine what they would sound like if we could put the proper time, money, and effort into these songs.
We intentionally extended the tracks so the listener would be able to connect with God in a greater way. I never write my songs for the radio, or to try and keep up with what pop-culture defines as modern. I write from a place deep within my spirit. If it doesn't fit in the typical 3:40 clock, I'm OK with that. There will even be a bonus piano track on this CD that is designed for you to just push play and connect with God. I want to personally invite as many as I can to join me in pursuing God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit with all our hearts. As you sing these songs, you will be singing truth directly from the Word of God. I believe that when we truly connect with our Creator, it will catapult us to run towards the world with the hope and love of Jesus. We truly show how much we love Him by how much we love humanity. I believe in empowering the local church in anyway I can. So I have attached the charts to the new songs on this record.
Thank you, Alicia, for sticking by this dreamer, and never giving up on me. You are a very brave woman, and I love you more than I can adequately describe in words. Can you believe we, together, have a book and a worship album out in one year! You are the love of my heart. Let’s keep dreaming together. Jamie and Martha Madigan, thanks for embracing the adventure with us. You are dear friends who we love greatly. To all those who have supported us in this crazy dream, you have a part in every life that is touched. We can't thank you enough for believing in us.
To the listener, I hope you are inspired, challenged, and find yourself lost in the wonder of his unfailing love. Open your eyes. He is everywhere and in everything, except sin. The more familiar He becomes, the more extraordinary He is.
